1. Objective
1.1 To create a national or local ranking system that allows players
to compete against each other in an attempt to progress up the
rankings.
2. Registration
2.1 Registration is via email to....
info@perthladder.leaguepool.org.uk
....or by completing the online entry form.
2.2 Applicants must submit their full name, contact phone number,
contact email address, address and name of preferred home venue (town
and phone number if possible).
2.3 Players can register at any time before or after the event has
commenced and are eligible to play matches upon receipt of
confirmation of entry.
2.4 Entry to the ladder is £20.
Payment should be made directly to the Perth Pool Ladder.
2.5 The ladder will run until 31st May 2004.
All prize monies will be distributed at this time.
3. Format
For a match to be classed as an official Pool Ladder challenge match
it must fit the following criteria:
3.1 The match must be played over a distance of a minimum of 9 frames
i.e. first to 5.
3.2 The match must be played on a recognised league pool table.
3.3 The rules used must be either World Rules or Federation-BAPTO
rules.
If rules cannot be agreed then the ladder organisers shall decide
which rules shall be played. The organisers decision shall be final.
3.4 Both players must have agreed for it to be a 'ladder' challenge
match before the commencement of the match.
3.5 No handicapping of the match.
3.6 The opening break shall be determined by tossing of a coin and all
subsequent frames will be alternate until the match is finished.
4. Scoring
4.1 After successful registration each new player is allocated 200
points with which to commence the league with.
4.2 After each match played the winner receives 10% of the loser’s
points. The percentage is rounded up.... if the loser is on 52 points
the winner will receive 6 points.
4.3 In the unlikely event that a player manages to drop to 10 points
then his score will remain at 10 and all subsequent matches will be
played for a single point until the players score is above 10.
5. Ranking
5.1 The ranking has only one main category - individual ranking.
5.2 The individuals ranking list is simply based upon that
individual’s current number of ranking points that have been
accumulated during challenge matches.
6. Challenges
A Pool Ladder challenge match may take place at any location. It
doesn’t have to be at either of the two competing players preferred
venues.
It is hoped that most players will gamely accept the challenges of
others and endeavour to make mutually convenient arrangements and
match formats. However the following rules are in force and must be
adhered to in the event that a mutually convenient arrangement cannot
be agreed.
6.1 If player X particularly wishes to play player Y and player Y
refuses to make convenient arrangements, then player X may make an
official challenge to play player Y at player Y’s home venue and
player 'Y's preferred rules and format.
An official challenge is made via email or through the Ladder
Tournament Director and a carbon copy of the email must be sent to
info@perthladder.leaguepool.org.uk.
Player Y then has a period of 3 weeks in which to arrange and play the
match, failure to do so will result in the loss of 10% of player Y’s
points to player X.
6.2 If player X is attending an event or similar where he knows player
Y will also be in attendance (i.e. a tour event or KO,) and it is
envisaged that there will be tables available at some point and free
time to facilitate a challenge match he may make a challenge to play
player Y at that event.
The challenge must be made at least a week prior to the event in order
for it to be binding and must be sent via email and a copy to
info@perthladder.leaguepool.org.uk.
Player Y may respond and decline the challenge via email but only if
he has a reasonable excuse i.e. he already has challenge matches to
play at that event. Failure to play the match will result in a win to
the challenger.
Note: challenges of course can be made at the actual event between
players but these will not be binding and a player has no obligation
to accept.
6.3 Once a player has accepted a challenge he will have the right to
refuse all further challenges made until he has completed the original
challenge.
6.4 Any players who refuse challenges (unless by exceptional
circumstances or Rule 6.3) will be suspended from the ladder until the
ladder organisers decide the outcome of the cancellation. The
organisers decision shall be final.
6.5 To enable fair play, players will be restricted from playing the
same opponent repeatedly. Once 2 players play a challenge match, they
must both then play 6 other Ladder opponents before being allowed to
challenge each other again. Any players who play each other twice
before they have played 6 opponents each will have their result made
void. Any player repeatedly abusing this rule will be suspended from
the Ladder. A player may not play the same opponent more than 5 times
in any one season. The maximum number of matches a player may play in
any one season is under review and will be advised in due course.
6.6 All table costs shall be halved between both players.
Please note, only challenges of the above two types (para 6.1 &
6.2) need to be submitted to Perth Ladder administrators. Normal,
mutually accepted challenges need not be submitted.
7. Results
7.1 Results of matches played must be...
(a) Registered online.
(b) Emailed to
info@perthladder.leaguepool.org.uk or,
(c) By phone to the Ladder Organisers.
It is the duty of the winning player to forward the result. Results
will periodically be checked with the losing player, any player
deliberately submitting an incorrect result will be suspended from the
league. All results will be placed online for clarification.
7.2 Should there be any disputes during the match, the challenged
player shall be given the benefit of the doubt in all circumstances.
The match must be continued and played out in full.
At the end of the match, should the losing player still feel aggrieved
then he must notify his opponent of his intent to officially dispute
the result. The winning player must then give details in the score
registration form.
The losing player must then send an e-mail to...
info@perthladder.leaguepool.org.uk.
Alternatively they can phone the tournament organisers direct.
The organisers shall reach a decision on the appeal and this decision
will be final.
8. Additional Information
8.1 The event is open-ended and will continue indefinitely.
It is envisaged that eventually it will be split into seasons and at
the end of each season the higher ranked players from each area will
compete at an event over a weekend for prizes. Points will not be
reset at the end of a season.
8.2 All players will receive a rules sheet, player list and contact
details upon confirmation of entry.
8.3 All rules must be adhered to or player(s) will be suspended from
the ladder.
8.4 Dependant on entries, the ladder may be split into divisions with
promotion/relegation.
8.5 Prize monies for the ladder is purely dependant on entries.
90% of the entry monies shall be paid out and 10% shall be retained
for administration costs.
8.6 The organisers decision in all disputes shall be final.
8.7 There may also be the option to play random sponsored tournaments
throughout the year which may be for cash, points or both.
8.8 The Ladder administrators reserve the right to amend any rule
should it be deemed necessary.
